SRU Parking

Now I know for anyone who lives off campus has to deal with the problem of parking for classes. This can be more stressful than actually going to classes itself. I know personally there are times where I want to skip class to not just skip class, but because I do not feel like dealing with parking. Also in regards to the lady that writes the tickets, she needs to tone it down a little bit. There are times where there is snow on the ground, you cannot see the lines so you park as well as you can without the guidance of the lines. She will kick the snow to see if your on or over the line to write you a ticket for double parking. This has happened to me before, I tried to appeal it and nothing came of it. This really grinds my gears.

SRU Gym

Slippery Rock has an above average gym in comparison to other schools. However, the weight room just does not make sense to me. Comparing to my old college again, Bethany College, it just is not clear to me about the amount of free weight benches and squat racks this gym has. My old school had 800 undergrads on campus but they had 3 barbell benches and 3 squat racks in the gym for the students. This is comparable to the 8,000 undergrads at Slippery Rock and 1 barbell bench and 2 squat racks here. This is the cause of a lot of wasted time and standing around in the gym and for the avid gym goers, this is a huge annoyance. This really grinds my gears because I had to wait 30 minutes for a bench yesterday.

SRU Class Scheduling

On this campus you see it time and time again. Students are unable to reach their anticipated graduation date. It is not because of a heavy work load or unable to do the classwork. It all falls back on scheduling. Scheduling here has prevented me from graduating on time and because of it, I will have to spend an extra year here. It is frustrating to have this happen knowing that the work is not what is stopping me from graduating on time. For instance I took 7 classes this semester and will not have anything less than an 85% in any of my classes. As for my next semester, I am limited to the classes I can take due to time restraints and availability. It might be time for the SRU administrators to take a look at this and work towards some way of correcting it.

Slippery Rock University

I feel as if this campus does not have enough large events going on a regular basis. I was at a campus of 900 kids before I transferred here and we had just as many large events as SRU. When I speak of large events I am speaking in regards to bringing big musicians, comedians, and other entertainers to campus. This is always a high point for a students and a chance to get away from the grueling times of class. I went to the Drake concert and it was a relief to enjoy a night during a Sunday-Thursday and not be stressing over school. All these movie nights I feel are irrelevant and most students do not attend. How about the campus more effort into having these big events.
